Выставка-событие, посвященная Мальтийскому ордену

Мальтийский орден был создан в Средние века. Его задачей была защита Святой земли и лечение паломников. Из-за частых сражений и войн орден много раз перемещался с места на место. Так, в разное время он базировался на Ближнем Востоке, Кипре, Родосе и даже в России. А остров Мальта и вовсе до сих пор носит название ордена, хотя никакого к нему отношения уже не имеет. В результате орден «осел» в Риме, где он занимает единственное здание в центре города, которое и является его государственной территорией.

Мальтийский орден обладает своим гимном, валютой, официальным языком (латынь), выдает паспорта и даже делает свои автомобильные номера. На сегодняшний день орден занимается тем, что организует медицинскую и социальную помощь в ста двадцати государствах.

Выставка расскажет об истории и современной деятельности этого необычного карликового почти официального государства.

Рафаэль. Солнце искусства

Celts. art and identity

Divine Beauty from Van Gogh to Chagall and Fontana

This outstanding show, with over one hundred works by well-known Italian and international artists, sets out to explore the relationship between art and religion from the mid-19th to the mid-20th century. La mostra  presenta una selezione di sculture, disegni, acquerelli e stampe di uno dei più grandi artisti inglesi: Henry Moore (1898–1986). La Tate conserva la collezione più ricca e rappresentativa dagli anni Venti ai Settanta, anche grazie alla donazione dell’artista stesso. Riconosciuto come uno dei più grandi scultori contemporanei, deve il suo successo all’abilità tecnica e inventiva al servizio del racconto della nostra epoca.

Molte le creazioni in mostra che denotano il suo peculiare rapporto tra pieni e vuoti, esaltato dalla monumentalità del luogo, le Grandi Aule delle Terme di Diocleziano. Soprattutto ai vuoti è infatti affidato un senso di continuità tra dentro e fuori, cosi che le sculture non vivono solo nello spazio ma nello stesso tempo lo creano, come se spazio e materia scultorea fossero un tutt’uno. Straordinaria la serie delle figure femminili sdraiate, come espressione dell’eterna femminilità, della Madre Terra. Alle Terme di Diocleziano 75 le opere esposte.

A Brief History of the Future

This exhibition—one of the most anticipated at the Louvre in 2015—is based on the book by Jacques Attali of the same name (Une brève histoire de l’avenir), published in 2006. Pluridisciplinary, it brings a number of contemporary artists into a dialogue with noteworthy works from different eras, retracing in the present an account of the past conducive to a clearer view of the future.

The viewing itinerary is organized around four themes, each featuring works commissioned from contemporary artists: the ordering of the world, the great empires, the expansion of the world, and the polycentric world we live in today. Mark Manders, Tomás Saraceno, Wael Shawky, Camille Henrot, Isabelle Cornaro, Chéri Samba, and Ai Wei Wei have thus accepted the Louvre's invitation.

These artworks highlight the succession of historical moments of expansion and withdrawal, the building of exchanges between individuals or communities, and the creation of various means of communication to make them possible. Special focus is placed on interpreting the artworks and putting them into perspective, particularly through a discussion area created in the last room.


Splendour and Misery. Pictures of Prostitution in France (1850-1910)

The first major show on the subject of prostitution, this exhibition attempts to retrace the way French and foreign artists, fascinated by the people and places involved in prostitution, have constantly sought to find new pictorial resources for depicting the realities and fantasies it implied.

From Manet's Olympia to Degas's Absinthe, from Toulouse-Lautrec and Munch's forays into brothels to the bold figures of Vlaminck, Van Dongen or Picasso, the exhibition focuses on showing the central place held by this shady world in the development of modern painting. The topic is also covered with regard to its social and cultural dimensions through Salon painting, sculpture, decorative arts décoratifs and photography. A wealth of documentary material recalls the ambivalent status of prostitutes, from the splendour of the demi-mondaine to the misery of the pierreuse (street walker).

Mark Rothko: A Retrospective

Long recognized as among the foremost figures of the Abstract Expressionist vanguard, Mark Rothko embraced the possibility of beauty in pure abstraction with a painterly eloquence that gave a new voice to American art. The MFAH is the sole U.S. venue to present Mark Rothko: A Retrospective, which draws upon the unrivaled holdings of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

Across a career spanning the most troubled years of the 20th century, Rothko (1903–1970) explored the tragic and the sublime, and his canvases remain a testament to the deep humanism he brought to modern painting. This definitive retrospective comprises more than 60 paintings that trace the artist’s full career arc, highlighting milestones in the development of his signature style.

In 1986, the National Gallery of Art was the primary recipient of what are essentially “Rothko’s Rothkos,” the paintings the artist held within his own collection at the time of his death. By bringing these works to Houston, home of the Rothko Chapel, the MFAH is able to give Museum visitors the opportunity to see the full range of Rothko’s achievement in the same city as his most acclaimed and enduring public commission.

Making Place: The Architecture of David Adjaye

With over 50 built projects across the world, David Adjaye is rapidly emerging as a major international figure in architecture and design. Rather than advancing a signature architectural style, Adjaye’s structures address local concerns and conditions through both a historical understanding of context and a global understanding of modernism. This mid-career survey—the first devoted to Adjaye—offers an in-depth overview of the architect’s distinct approach and visual language with a dynamic installation design conceived by Adjaye Associates.

While Adjaye has never adhered to a discrete style, his projects coalesce around certain ideas. Often set in cities struggling with diversity and difference, his public buildings provide spaces that foster links among people and explore how neighborhoods evolve, how new communities are created, and how unexpected junctures weave diverse urban identities and experiences into the tapestry of multiculturalism. Rethinking conventions, his designs speak to the specific time and place in which they were made. These ideas are expressed in important recent projects, such as the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) on the mall in Washington, D.C., a building that faces history head on, bringing together references from across Africa and America in a visually and physically evocative design.

Ai Weiwei

In September 2015 major artist and cultural phenomenon Ai Weiwei takes over our main galleries with brave, provocative and visionary works.

Curated in collaboration with Ai Weiwei from his studio in Beijing, the RA will present some of his most important works from the time he returned to China from the US in 1993 right up to present day. Among new works created specifically for our galleries and courtyard will be a number of large-scale installations, as well as works showcasing everything from marble and steel to tea and glass.

With typical boldness, the chosen works will explore a multitude of challenging themes, drawing on his own experience to comment on creative freedom, censorship and human rights, as well as examining contemporary Chinese art and society.

The Louisiana exhibition unfurls the whole of Kusama’s life’s work: from early watercolours and pastels to her ground-breaking paintings and sculptures from the 1960s, psychedelic films, performances, installations and political happenings in the 1960s and the early 1970s, as well as shedding new light on works from the 1980s, after the artist’s return to Tokyo. Also on show exhibition are several of Kusama’s recent installations, and a series of new paintnings by the 86-year-old Kusama, created especially for Louisiana’s exhibition. The exhibition is the first Kusama retrospective to take into account the artist’s interest in fashion and design but also includes several important works from her early period that have never before been exhibited.

Экспозиция позволит во всем многообразии показать творческое наследие мастера: не только знаменитые портреты, но и работы в области пейзажного жанра и монументального искусства, ранее ускользавшие из поля зрения исследователей.

Предполагается впервые полно представить театральные работы живописца, связанные с постановками оперы "Юдифь" известного композитора А.Н.Серова (отца художника), и грандиозный занавес для балета на музыку Н.А.Римского-Корсакова "Шехерезада" для Русских сезонов Сергея Дягилева. Выставку составят произведения из 18 российских и 5 зарубежных музеев, а также из частных коллекций.

Fragonard amoureux/. Galant et libertin

L’inspiration amoureuse parcourt l’œuvre de Jean-Honoré Fragonard (1732-1806). Se faisant tour à tour galante, libertine, audacieusement polissonne ou au contraire ouverte à une nouvelle éthique amoureuse, celle-ci ne cesse en effet de mettre en scène la rencontre des corps et la fusion des âmes. Inaugurée au mitan du XVIIIème siècle par des bergeries nourries des derniers feux de la galanterie, cette inlassable exploration de la sensualité et du sentiment s’épanouit par la suite au travers de voies contrastées, le « Divin Frago » s’illustrant avec autant de subtilité dans des œuvres « secrètes », scènes d’alcôve à la sensualité affirmée, que dans la célébration d’un amour sincère et moralisé. Réunissant peintures, dessins et ouvrages illustrés, au contenu érotique parfois explicite, l’exposition du Musée du Luxembourg met pour la première fois en lumière l’œuvre de Fragonard à travers ce prisme amoureux, la resituant à la croisée des préoccupations esthétiques et morales du siècle des Lumières. 

Shaping European Cities

The exibition, to be held in Brussels, Belgium, will showcase the winners of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2015. The event will consist of a series of talks and debates on architecture and urban renewal.

The EU Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe award is considered by the architects themselves as the second most prestigious in the world, after the Pritzker Prize. The Prize was created in 1988 through collaboration between the European Commission and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation in Barcelona and is currently supported by the EU Creative Europe programme.

The Directorate General Education and Culture of the European Commission is organising an exhibition on the 2015 Prize, which bringing together models, photos and video material about the 40 most remarkable architecture projects built in Europe in the last 2 years.  “Shaping European Cities” is the opening event of the exhibition, aimed at strengthening the dialogue between policymakers, architects and a wider audience about the role of quality architecture as a key element for regenerating European cities, and opening up potential new paths for collaboration. The format will be a series of short and high-impact talks followed by debates.

Gates of the Lord: The Tradition of Krishna Paintings

This fall, the Art Institute of Chicago offers a glimpse of one of the world’s most intimate and private religious traditions. Bringing together over 100 artworks from private and public collections in India and the United States, Gates of the Lord: The Tradition of Krishna Paintings is the first major U.S. exhibition to explore the unique visual culture of the Pushtimarg, a Hindu denomination from Western India.

The exhibition takes its visitors through a year in Nathdwara, in which the daily worship of Shrinathji is characterized by the changing of seasons and a bustling festival calendar. Gallery by gallery, the viewer is introduced to the pichvais used as backdrops for Shrinathji in his shrine, each uniquely suited to a particular season or festival. The accompanying miniature paintings offer further insight into the Pushtimarg sect: its mode of veneration, history, and important priests and patron families, while festival and devotional music, a shrine reconstruction, and touchscreen kiosks that allow visitors to page through religious manuscripts, an artist sketchbook, and a historic photo album enhance the experience of the Pushtimarg’s rich culture. The exhibition ends with an exploration of the works, sketches, and observations of prominent 20th- and 21st-century Nathdwara artists who have kept the painting tradition flourishing through the present day.

Cy Twombly

The American Cy Twombly was a key member of the new generation of artists to emerge in the 1950s. Like his close friends Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns, he broke away from American Expressionism to develop his own unique and influential pictorial language.

The exhibition focuses on the paintings and sculptures from the 1950s to the 1970s in the collection of the Kunstmuseum Basel accompanied by exclusive select loans. Together they trace the development of what is arguably Twombly’s most outstanding artistic period. The exhibition will also present Twombly’s painting Untitled, 1969 (Bolsena) for the first time, a gift from Katharina and Wilfrid Steib. The painting’s pencil hatchings describe a window-like opening against a white color field.

From Hockney to Holbein. The Würth Collection in Berlin

Au XVIe siècle, l’art du portrait devient de plus en plus répandu parmi les élites florentines qui trouvent là un moyen de porter les traits de leur visage et leur statut social à la postérité. Ils recourent pour cela à des figures littéraires telles que Pétrarque, à des références musicales ou à une mise en scène riche en symboles pour  décrire la vie du modèle, sous ses multiples facettes.

Le Musée Jacquemart-André consacre une exposition inédite aux grands portraitistes florentins du XVIe siècle autour d’une quarantaine d’œuvres. Outre la présentation des chefs-d’œuvre de Pontormo, élève d’Andrea del Sarto et maître du maniérisme, ce sera l’occasion d’apprécier les traits raffinés et gracieux, typiques des portraits de Bronzino ou ceux de Salviati témoignant d’un sens achevé de la sophistication.

Cette exposition va offrir un fascinant panorama de l’art du portrait florentin au XVIe siècle, avec ses principaux thèmes et mutations stylistiques. À travers le regard des peintres expérimentant de nouvelles manières de représenter leurs contemporains, elle permettra d’apprécier les évolutions de style du Cinquecento, un siècle particulièrement mouvementé sur les plans culturel et religieux.

Выставка, посвященная творчеству Симона Ушакова, организуется впервые.
Экспозиция позволит представить многогранную личность художника в культурно-историческом контексте эпохи, покажет принципиальную новизну и особенности разработанного им "живоподобного" стиля в иконописи и продемонстрирует влияние, которое было оказано художником на дальнейшее развитие русского изобразительного искусства.

Piet Mondrian. The Line

With his characteristic compositions of rectangles and black lines, Piet Mondrian (1872–1944) is regarded as one of the founders of abstract painting. He is considered to be a master of the composition of coloured areas. Through his method of strict reduction to the basic elements of painting, Mondrian created icons of classic modernism. A lesser-known fact, however, is that Mondrian started out by creating paintings in the impressionist style of the Hague School and explored different styles of art before lines and the organisation of image areas dominated his artistic creations. A new exhibition developed by the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag in cooperation with the Martin-Gropius-Bau now endeavours to illustrate this development in Mondrian’s works.

LUCIAN FREUD

In 2009, Louisiana held an extremely well-attended exhibition of paintings by the British artist Lucian Freud (1922-2011). Now, in the Louisiana on Paper series, focus will be on Freud as a graphic artist.

Freud was painter of human figures whose images cut bluntly to the bone in their treatment of men and women as fleshly creatures, and the leap into the graphics may seem strange, since it is painting that can release the physical look of the body most vividly. But Freud is similar in this regard to the painter Edvard Munch, who also was a masterful graphic artist: The flesh may perhaps disappear, but the body remains. And the face in particular gains strength when the color is eliminated and the drawing takes over. Freud’s graphic work is unmistakably Freudian – strong, confrontational, impossible to ignore, as though it was another person who had pushed you into a corner.

Павел Варфоломеевич Кузнецов (1878–1968) – основатель "Голубой розы", главного объединения русского живописного символизма и первой из наиболее значимых художественных группировок ХХ века.Выставка представит зрителю творческий путь мастера, пережившего увлечение символизмом и ориентализмом.

Ряд работ Кузнецова из собрания Третьяковской галереи прошли сложную реставрацию и будут впервые после многих лет показаны публике. Экспозицию составят произведения из Третьяковской галереи, Русского музея, Саратовского государственного художественного музея им. А.Н.Радищева.

Giotto, l'Italia. Da Assisi a Milano

Spetta proprio al pittore fiorentino il superamento della bidimensionalità e della ieraticità bizantine grazie all'approdo alla resa dello spazio e della massa corporea e alla caratterizzazione fisionomica dei suoi personaggi, aspetti, questi, che preludono alle soluzioni della pittura del Rinascimento.

La mostra su Giotto a Milano analizza le tappe di quello che a tutti gli effetti si può considerare il padre della pittura moderna, seguendo l'evoluzione del suo linguaggio e della sua pittura che maturarono durante i soggiorni compiuti a Roma, Assisi, Bologna, Firenze, Rimini, Padova e, da ultima Milano. Qui Giotto giunse poco prima di morire, chiamato da Azzone Visconti per affrescare una parte del Palazzo Ducale con una Gloria Mondana e forse una serie di Uomini illustri, purtroppo perduti.

Restano tracce della sua eredità artistica nel frammento di Crocifissione ritrovato nel 1929 nel campanile di San Gottardo in corte e nella produzione degli artisti che operarono a partire dalla dagli anni Quaranta del Trecento presso l'Abbazia di Chiaravalle e l'Abbazia di Viboldone e in numerosi luoghi della Lombardia che la mostra invita a visitare.
