In the summer exhibition, the Mauritshuis will focus on a single painting: Saul and David. The picture has been meticulously researched and restored during recent years, and will be presented for the first time during this exhibition. In many ways the preliminary research resembled a crime scene investigation. In the past, the painting Saul and David was considered one of Rembrandt's top pieces, but is it actually the work of the great master? This exhibition shows how, using the latest technology and research methods, fascinating discoveries were made about the creation, the history and the attribution of the painting.
The exhibition is made possible by the support of Océ – A Canon Company, the Mondriaan Fund and the Dutch Masters Foundation.
